Albertson Church

Welcome to Spiritualism!

Spiritualism is the science, philosophy and religion of continuity of life. Through the practice of mediumship, it demonstrates that our soul never dies and that as a result, communication with those who have passed on is clearly demonstrated.

Spiritualism has no scripture or dogma. Everyone is invited to worship with us regardless of beliefs or religious affiliations. We emphasize individual responsibility and base our foundation on the Golden Rule: ”Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”.

Albertson Church located in Old Greenwich, was founded in 1936 and is a member in good standing of the National Spiritualist Association of Churches (NSAC) and the Connecticut State Spiritualist Association.

Our Sunday Services are from 11am to 12:30pm and include music, inspirational talks by spiritualist or interfaith guest ministers, meditation, hands on healing and spirit communications. After the service we gather for fellowship, light brunch and coffee.

We offer a number of classes, workshops and a monthly Spiritual, Psychic and Healing Fair.

Principles of Modern Spiritualism

The basic principles of Modern Spiritualism were given forth by Emma Hardinge Britten, a prodigious proponent of Spiritualism during the 1800’s. She received these from the spirit of Robert Dale Owen, a socialist who had become convinced of Spiritualism, in great part through her lectures and discourses. Over the years, these have been interpreted and reinterpreted to fit the needs of an evolving society, but the basics have remained steadfast. Today, these nine principles form the foundation of our faith and that of our Church.

  1. We believe in Infinite Intelligence (God).

  2. We believe that the phenomena of Nature, both physical and spiritual, are the expression of Infinite Intelligence (God).

  3. We affirm that a correct understanding of such expression and living in accordance therewith, constitute true religion.

  4. We affirm that the existence and personal identity of the individual continue after the change called death.

  5. We affirm that communication with the so-called dead is a fact, scientifically proven by the phenomena of Spiritualism.

  6. We believe that the highest morality is contained in the Golden Rule: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

  7. We affirm the moral responsibility of individuals, and that we make our own happiness or unhappiness as we obey or disobey Nature’s physical and spiritual laws.

  8. We affirm that the doorway to reformation is never closed against any soul here or hereafter.

  9. We affirm that the precepts of Prophecy and Healing are Divine attributes proven through Mediumship.
